Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Consultant Ophthalmologist in Accident and Emergency with Cataract within the North & City Road Division.

This post is being offered as a full-time post.

This full time Locum Consultant post offers 7.9 programmed activities to provide direct clinical care within the within the Accident & Emergency Service, with 1 in 6 weekend session at City Road and Cataract Session at Ealing Hospital Satellite site. with 2 SPA/Admin sessions.

Supervision and teaching of junior staff will be required as well as administrative responsibilities related to service provision. The job plan does not currently involve evenings or weekend sessions, however it may evolve to should it suit the business needs.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be responsible for the ongoing care and management of patient seen within A&E and Cataract within the trust. The successful candidate will be expected to provide training for junior doctors and to support the further development of the Allied Health Care Professionals within the service.

Candidates should have completed their Specialist Training in Ophthalmology, have their Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent, or be within six months of their CCT date. Candidates are required to be in possession of the Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists or equivalent. The holder of this post is required to be fully registered with the General Medical Council and hold a license to practice. The successful candidate should have completed at least a year of subspecialty Medical Retina fellowship training.

All doctors are responsible to maintain a portfolio of their career over the last 5 years in order to satisfy GMC Revalidation criteria. If successful, you will be required to bring along your supporting information portfolio including recent appraisals documents when joining the Trust.
