Main duties of the job
A key responsibility of the role is to develop a clear understanding of the data resources available from Moorfields' clinical systems. Building on this knowledge, the post holder will work both independently and in close collaboration with the AI and Data Science team to design and implement machine learning tools capable of extracting clinically relevant features from ophthalmic imaging.
The role also involves contributing to the creation of web applications that will enable the deployment of clinical and imaging data analytics tools, supporting the wider ambition of a 'learning healthcare system'. Alongside this, the post holder will play an active role in the development, validation, and implementation of AI algorithms for ophthalmic image segmentation and analysis, ensuring these tools are robust and clinically meaningful.
Additional responsibilities include supporting the development of database management platforms for the Reading Centre, which will underpin effective data handling and accessibility. Finally, the post holder will contribute to advancing AI-driven diagnostic and prognostic models for eye diseases, helping to improve patient care and outcomes through innovative use of data science.
