Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic Advanced Orthoptist who can deliver core and sub-specialty Orthoptic practice alongside providing expertise and leadership at Moorfields Eye Hospital (Monday and Friday) and National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery NHNN (Tuesday - Thursday).
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be employed by Moorfields Eye Hospital and work alongside a multidisciplinary team at Moorfields hospital site City Road and at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN).
The Orthoptist will play a pivotal role at the NHNN, a world-renowned unit known for its excellence in treating patients with the spectrum of neuro-ophthalmic disease across an out-patient and in-patient setting.
The successful candidate will also support the day-to-day running of the Orthoptic Service at the NHNN and actively participate in education and teaching of other health care professionals.
Moorfields Eye Hospital offers a range of core and sub-specialty clinics including botulinum toxin, motility, sub-specialty paediatric, adnexal and orthoptic-optometric led services.
The candidate will be expected to work autonomously in new patient clinics and be experienced to be able to be able to make appropriate onward referrals.

- Be responsible as an independent practitioner for the planning, implementation and monitoring of orthoptic treatment
- Be responsible for re-referral to specialist services if indicated
- Collaborate and actively participate in supporting observers, health care professional and Orthoptic students attending clinical placement
- Lead clinical service management at NHNN
- Work with service managers to maintained and deliver high quality care as part of an MDT team
