Paediatric and Strabismus Clinical Fellow

Job summary

Applications are invited for this Fellowship post specialising in Paediatric Ophthalmology.

Applicants are required to hold FRCOphth or equivalent and be registered with the General Medical Council.

The post is based at the Moorfields' St Georges site in Tooting. The post provides exposure to Paediatric ophthalmology outpatient clinics, Theatre operating lists, Toxin outpatient clinics and children's A+E. An example timetable is enclosed, this will be subject to change depending on service requirements.

Main duties of the job

Provide High Quality Care to Patients

  • The post holder must be medically qualified and maintain GMC specialist registration and hold a licence to practice
  • To develop and maintain the competencies required to carry out the duties required of the post.
  • To ensure prompt attendance at agreed direct clinical care Programmed Activities.
  • To ensure patients are involved in decisions about their care and to respond to their views.
  • Participate in clinical audit and incident reporting
  • To ensure clinical guidelines and protocols are adhered to
  • To work collaboratively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team
  • Adhere to Trust/departmental guidelines on leave including reporting absence.

The post covers Paediatric ophthalmology outpatient clinics, Theatre operating lists, Toxin outpatient clinics and children's A+E.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • FRCOphth or MRCP or equivalent
  • CCT in Ophthalmology or equivalent ophthalmic training (or be within 6 months of CCT date).
  • Full GMC Registration (with a 'Licence to Practise').
  • Be on or eligible for the GMC specialist register

Desirable

  • Higher Degree (e.g. MD or PhD).

FURTHER TRAINING & KNOWLEDGE
