Job summary
Exciting opportunity for the individual who wants to join Moorfields Eye Hospital. We are currently looking for a self-motivated, pro-active individual with both excellent time management and organisational skills to join our Medical imaging team for a maternity cover as a Senior Ophthalmic Vision Science Practitioner.
You will be working in the multidisciplinary team to provide an expert, safe, effective, and high-quality Diagnostic Imaging Services at Moorfields' including the Trust's satellite and Virtual Clinics, Private Patients and Richard Desmond Children's Eye Centre (RDCEC). The role encompasses supporting junior staff to develop skills and help to embed a continuous quality improvement culture across the service. As a senior OVS you will work both clinically and managerially to undertake day to day supervision of the team working with the Head of Department to ensure safe staffing across all sites.
Main duties of the job
Provide Diagnostic Imaging and Ultrasound Services at the main Moorfields site including the Trust's satellite Clinics, Private Patients and Richard Desmond Children's Eye Centre. Support junior staff to develop skills and help to embed a continuous quality improvement culture across the service. There is also an occasional requirement of providing imaging services out of normal working hours including some Saturday work.
The post holder will require to be expert in ophthalmic imaging procedures including:
- Optical Coherence Tomography.
- Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography.
- Colour Fundus Photography.
- Photo Slit-Lamp Photography.
- Stereo Imaging.
- Fluorescein Angiography.
- Indocyanine Green Angiography.
- Optos Imaging.
- Anterior Segment OCT.
- External and Studio Photography.
- Ultrasound B scanning including follow up patients for the oncology service, writing a report on findings and accurately measuring the dimensions of lesions.
The post holder will act as a point of contact for the department for education and training.
