Job summary

THE POST

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a fellow in general ophthalmology, cataract and urgent care/emergency ophthalmology within the busy and expanding service of Moorfields at Croydon. The post will be suitable for an experienced clinical fellow looking to expand their skills with an exciting and varied timetable including both outpatient and surgical sessions.

This role will give the successful applicant the opportunity to gain experience in a world-renowned teaching hospital, with access to the teaching and resources of Moorfields City Road and participation in the South West Thames Regional on-call rota, whilst remaining in a dedicated unit where they can become an integral member of the team.

Main duties of the job

May vary but will include:

7 clinical sessions, 1 theatre session and 2 admin/audit/management sessions. The clinical sessions will include rapid access clinics (urgent care/emergency ophthalmology), cataract clinics and general ophthalmology clinics

All clinical sessions will take place at Moorfields at Croydon and there will be a chance to attend the City Road teaching sessions when appropriate and use the facilities at the City Road site including the Institute of Ophthalmology library

This post includes a surgical session to allow a cataract surgeon to develop their skills alongside a consultant ophthalmic surgeon
