Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Moorfields Eye Hospital Adnexal Service for a dynamic and caring nurse to provide ophthalmic care, information and advice to patients with eyelid, lacrimal and orbital conditions.
In this full time post the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing the patients' adnexal condition at the first point of contact, providing autonomous practice which demonstrates high level of accountability at an advanced clinical level, delivering high-quality direct patient care, making critical medical and surgical decisions and providing treatment based on advanced clinical skills assessment and non-medical prescribing.
The post holder will work in collaboration with the Adnexal Team; Consultant, MedicalConsultants, Senior Nurses and Health Support Worker and the Matron and wider Trust to deliverhigh quality, safe effective care and experience to patient, families and carers.
The post holder will provide advanced ophthalmic nursing care in accordance with evidence-based practice, legislation, policies, and procedures.
The Advanced Nurse Practitioner should continuously seekto develop and implement improvement, meet key performance indicators, quality and safetystandards relevant to the service.
Main duties of the job
Practice autonomously demonstrating high level of accountability at an advanced clinical level,delivering high-quality direct patient care, making critical clinical decisions based on advancedclinical skills assessment.
With support from the Nurse Consultant, be responsible for a caseload of patients surgicallyand managing new and review nurse led clinics in-person and via telemedicine.
Work in partnership with individuals, families and carers, using a range of assessment methodsas appropriate (e.g. of history-taking, holistic assessment, identifying risk factors, mental healthassessments, requesting, undertaking and/or interpreting diagnostic tests, and conducting healthneeds assessments).
Assess, diagnosis and treat patients, develop treatment plans within set guidelines, and recordclinical findings using the department information systems, when necessary collaborate with themulti-professional and/or refer to the senior clinical colleagues as appropriate.
Challenge practice so that the best and most appropriate treatment is given to the patient;maintaining and monitoring high standards of care, recognising and responding proactively topatients' changing clinical needs.
