The EBME Department is responsible for delivering complete medical equipment management on behalf of the Trust to include City Road and allMoorfields outreach sites.
The post holder will complement an existing EBME team who are responsible for delivering effective management, servicing and repair of all Trust medical equipment to include all Moorfields outreach sites
Main duties of the job
The post holder will complement an existing EBME team who are responsible for delivering effective management, servicing and repair of all Trust medical equipment to include all Moorfields outreach sites.The candidate we seek will be qualified to degree in engineering with practical experience in electro-medical engineering workshop practices andtechnical skill with medical equipment.
The post-holder must exercise a high degree of initiative, be able to work under pressure and have the ability to prioritise their own workload. Themain base is City Road however travelling to work cross all sites is expected.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will complement an existing EBME team who are responsible for delivering effective management, servicing and repair of all Trust medical equipment to include all Moorfields outreach sites.
- Attend to equipment breakdowns which have been logged by way of the Trust intranet and the EBME medical equipment job form.
- In line with manufacturers recommendations, carry out routine PPM servicing on a range of medical equipment to include specialised ophthalmic equipment.
- Carry out asset verification and equipment evaluation, to help effectively manage the Trusts medical equipment assets and asset replacement program.
- Responsible for meeting the agreed site based Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Working with 3rd party suppliers to provide the Trust with service and support in line with their agreed contract obligations.
- Responsible for providing technical expertise relating to medical devices and the environment in which they are used, for example, liaising with the MHRA, professional end users and any other agency or interested party
- Resource materials, spare parts and service providers.
- Check that equipment performs to manufacturers specification.
- Carry out calibration, quality control, safety, commissioning and acceptance testing.
- Carry out electrical and functional safety checks.
- Remove unsafe/uneconomic equipment from service and prepare it for safe disposal
- Using technical and clinical experience, identify potentially hazardous symptoms and faults when in clinical areas or in talking to clinical staff.
- Plan and Prioritize own work.
- Keep accurate records of all work performed and update all appropriate records.
- Raising Purchase Orders for the procurement of goods and services to facilitate the prompt return to service of equipment.
- Inform the Manager and other EBME staff of the condition and performance of the equipment within the Post holders care.
- Act as identified engineer for one or more clinical areas, acting as first point of clinical contact and acquiring specific knowledge on particular items of equipment.
- Ensure customers receive a high quality, prompt and efficient service and are kept up to date on the progress of their outstanding work
