Job summary
The post holder is responsible for assessment of care needs of patients, planning programmes of care, implementation and evaluation of these programmes with direct supervision. At times they will have management responsibility for being in-charge of the clinic and supervising junior members of staff. The post holder will be a key member in relation to the development of practice on the ward. They will be working independently/autonomously and at times without direct supervision, accountable for their own professional actions. Ensuring the safety and well-being of service users, and always working in a manner that promotes dignity and human rights through the adoption of person centred care principles.
PROBATIONARY PERIOD
This post will be subject to a probationary period of 6 months.
During the probationary period, your suitability for continued employment will be assessed and provided a satisfactory standard is achieved and maintained, your employment will be confirmed. The probationary period may be extended or your employment terminated either during or at the end of probation, in line with the trust Probationary Policy. For the duration of the probation period, the notice period will be in line with contractual obligations on either side.
Main duties of the job
- To take a clear and concise history from patients by assessing their health and well-being and complete documentation ensuring that all entries are accurate and legible and that all information systems are maintained.
- Responsible for carrying out clinical ophthalmic practice within designated clinical areas
- Undertake prescribed physical observations as follows measuring intra ocular pressures after competency-based training.
- Carry out ophthalmic nursing procedures and treatments
- To work in DAy Care, ensuring the surgical pathway is running smoothly and on the day cancellations are prevented. Working alongside the theatre team to ensuring good communication
