Ward Manager - Coronary Care Unit (Ward 18)

Job summary

This is a great opportunity to join the leadership team supporting our Coronary Care Unit at Doncaster and Bassetlaw NHS Trust as a Band 7 Full-time Ward Manager.

We are looking for a high profile, accessible and responsive individual who will provide support to the patients and junior staff on Ward CCU.

The successful candidate will lead junior staff within the clinical area to ensure agreed standards are met and quality maintained. they will monitor and improve standards of care through clinical audit, teaching and support of their professional colleagues.

The post holder will be expected to provide clinical expertise and knowledge, demonstrating a sound understanding of the issues related to identification, assessment, treatment and management of the client group.

The post holders will be responsible for supporting the Band 7 Sister with the co-ordination of the ward and leading a skilled workforce to implement changes that will see an improvement to patient pathways.

We are looking for someone who has excellent clinical and leadership skills, who can make decisions and be a role model for the nursing workforce.

Main duties of the job

Through strong leadership, high visibility and accessibility the post holder will enable the unit to deliver excellence in nursing, ensure patient experience is of the highest quality and aim to reduce length of stay.

o Maintain and promote effective communication with the team and all members of the multi-disciplinary team.o Ensure there are systems in place to develop nurse roles and nurse-in-charge role which meet both needs of service and corporate objectives.o Using specialised knowledge ensure the clinical needs of patients are met, taking overall responsibility for the department.o Assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care, actively seeking evidence based practice which will support clinical outcomes as appropriate.o To set annual Departmental objectives with the Matron and Senior leadership team ensuring that all staff are aware of them and their implementation.o To involve staff in the developments and business of the Trust. Actively encourage and promote, supporting where possible within the constraints of service delivery, staff membership of Trust wide initiatives/committees, professional organisations/forums and/or relevant Trade Unions.o Plan the duty rota taking into consideration the needs of the service. manager.
