Job summary
This post will suit candidates planning to get some useful Resident/ SAS level experience in Vascular. This will give them a chance to improve clinical and surgical skills in and out of hours, which would place them in a good position to apply for FRCS exit examination, or should the candidate wish to pursue CESR. The department supports clinical research and has a good track record for international presentations and publications.
As a member of the Vascular team at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals, you will work as part of a team of consultants and resident doctors to provide elective and emergency Vascular support to patients accessing the hospitals services across the three sites of Doncaster Royal Infirmary (DRI), Bassetlaw and Mexborough Montagu Hospitals.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide:
o Support during ward rounds and share responsibility of ward patients
o Patient assessment
o Discharge administration
o Assessment of patients attending routine general clinics
o In-patient and day-case theatre lists
o Perform flexible cystoscopies and other procedure such as TRUS procedures / template biopsies
o Attend MDT meetings
o Support clinicians in operation environments
o Provide cover during periods of holiday, study or sick leave.
o Liaising with patients and families to discuss patient's progress, goals and achievable outcomes
o Coordinating discharges with Multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs)
o Being on call as part of surgical on call rota
