An exciting opportunity has arisen for a position as a Practice Development Midwife at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, working within the established Midwifery Pastoral team and working across the Doncaster and Bassetlaw sites.
To act as the practice development midwife within all areas of midwifery, supporting all staff in practice to ensure that newly qualified and existing midwives and support staff, can successfully demonstrate the necessary clinical competencies, so that their practice is evidence based and safe.
You must be able to demonstrate excellent leadership skills, be a caring and compassionate individual focused on providing excellent quality patient care, working within the values held by the Trust.
You will promote an environment where the delivery of high-quality compassionate care is every body's prime objective and ensure all staff are enabled to work in a professional manner and as accountable practitioners.
Through effective leadership & role modelling, inspire, motivate and empower others.
This will require the post holder to be highly visible and to have an accessible approach for all staff.
To facilitate this, the role is Monday to Friday within core hours (8am-5pm). This may vary, and be subject to review, depending on the speciality service needs.
You will work closely with the Midwifery Education team
Main duties of the job
- Working within all clinical areas with midwifery staff, including newly qualified on an individual basis to develop and enhance clinical skills and competence.
- Act as a role model, employing professional behaviour that encourages self and team development, always.
- Work with ward and department managers to create an environment that provides supportive learning and professional development of midwives and support staff.
- Assist managers where identification and underperformance within clinical midwifery practice has occurred.
- Ensure preceptorship meetings ae held at the set intervals and recorded.
- Participate in the development and delivery of competencies and training material that demonstrates compliance with local and national guidelines and policies
