After 38 years of dedicated excellence in service, our current post holder is retiring and we are recruiting to this Consultant SLT post.
In this role, you will provide the highest level of clinical SLT expertise in the Trust.
As a Consultant SLT, all 4 pillars of Advanced Consultant Level practice will be fulfilled; Clinical, Leadership, Education and Research.
You will have reach, influence and impact locally, regionally and nationally. You will establish collaborative networks and contribute to local, regional and national SLT/ENT policy and guidelines for voice.
You will lead on research, audit and review of voice services and pathways.
You will lead the SLT voice team and work jointly and closely, with equal expertise in your field, with two respected nationally recognised, specialist Otolaryngologists.
Tuesdays and Wednesdays will be core days for pre-set clinics. Co-ordination of the remaining hours can negotiated; as an example 3 days one week, 2 days the next etc. There is potential for some work from home as appropriate.
Main duties of the job
You will provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management for complex voice caseloads in both SLT and ENT. The role requires SLT Consultant level expertise in the:
- Joint Voice Disorders Clinic (2 per month)
- Dystonia Injection andGlottal Insufficiency Injection Clinic (2 per month)
- Hoarse Voice Clinical Assessment and Treatment Clinic in ENT (2, or 3, per month)
- SLT Led nasendoscopy biofeedback clinic (every other week)
- Outpatient SLT clinics
The role is the the lead SLT for professional voice users, the lead for advanced and specialist voice treatments in SLT including advanced laryngeal manipulation. You will need precision nasendoscopy skills.
As well as the clinical components outlined above, the role requires all 4 pillars of Consultant Practice to be fulfilled. These elements are set out in detail in the Job Description and they are equally crucial to the role.
You will be joining a warm, supportive and dedicated team. We have 4.4/5 staff satisfaction and 4.76/5 patient satisfaction from a 15.8% response rate. We have a Head and Deputy Head of Therapies to co-ordinate all Clinical Therapy services. We have close links with the Stroke Team, Radiology, Sodexo, Nutrition team, Dietetics as well as ENT.
