Job summary
We are seeking a Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics to support the Department and the Trust in the provision of Elective and Emergency Orthopaedic Surgery with an emphasis on Wrist & Hand Surgery.
The appointee will join a team offive Upper Limb Consultants (Two Wrist & Hand and three Shoulder Surgeons) and will work within the T&O team at large which includes Nineteen Consultants offering a range of sub-specialty services including Lower limb arthroplasty and soft tissue surgery, Foot & Ankle surgery, Spine surgery, Hip preservation surgery and Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgery.
There is a Trauma on call commitment associated with the post on a third on call 1:16 weekday and weekend basis. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the departmental programmes for education and training as well as the clinical governance process within the Department and the Trust. The post attracts an on-call availability supplement of Category A - low frequency: 1:9 or less frequent (3.0 % of full time basic salary).
Applicants must be on the General Medical Council Specialist Register or within six months of being admitted to the Register for trainees if in a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the regulations all other categories of doctors must be on the GMC Specialist Register to be considered for a consultant appointment by the Advisory Appointments Committee. Applicants must continue to hold a License to Practise.

To share with colleagues the responsibility for teaching and training of trainees, junior medical staff, nursing staff, primary care colleagues and medical students.
