Principle Clinical Physiologist

Job summary

The Principal Clinical Physiologist will lead a team of Healthcare Science staff to ensure the provision of high quality, efficient and effective Cardio-Respiratory diagnostic services in line with the overall Medical Division requirements, Trust vision and objectives.

You will provide operational senior leadership, providing solutions and/or advice to staff in response to service pressures.

You will develop and deliver service strategy, together with leading the appropriate governance and risk management processes.

Main duties of the job

Delivery of key diagnostic performance indicators in line with local and national agreements.

Data collection to inform demand and capacity planning

Cardio-Respiratory Clinical Governance and risk management

Delivering financial balance and for the management of cost improvement.

Ensuring that all service issues are managed with a focus of improving the service provided to patients.

Ensuring that staff are fully engaged in the process of change management, and in particular, that Physiologists and support services are fully involved and at the forefront of service improvement projects.

Managing the asset base of the Cardio-Respiratory Department, ensuring all the equipment is maintained and is safe to use, including developing plans to update and replace equipment.

Manages the clinical systems in conjunction with IT Department

Working as a specialised independent practitioner within own area of expertise, performing and reporting highly complex specialised diagnostic procedures, both routine and emergency on outpatients and inpatients for all Divisions using best current practice and to local and national standards.

To travel between sites to ensure support and presence is co-ordinated with clinical team.

To act as an ambassador for Healthcare Science at local, regional and national level
