Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Executive Medical Director's Directorate within the Medical Revalidation Team.
The Revalidation Support Coordinator is key to the successful running of the medical appraisal system for non-training doctors. They coordinate the revalidation and appraisal process and provide support to doctors during this process as necessary.
The post holder requires excellent organisational skills, and demands the ability to work independently, frequently exercising tact, discretion, initiative and judgement. The post holder will support medical staff by dealing with enquiries from appraisers and appraisees in relation to all aspects of revalidation. Some situations may be difficult and sensitive and there may be no procedural guidance.
The post holder must project a professional and dignified image at all times.
As part of a job sharing arrangement for this role, excellent communication, collaboration and cooperation is critical to the smooth and effective running of the revalidation office.
Main duties of the job
- First point of contact for enquiries to the Revalidation Office
- Support the Responsible Officer to raise the profile of revalidation within the Trust
- Maintain information systems and processes to support revalidation and reporting requirements
- Coordinate Revalidation Group meetings, tracking the resolution of issues and following up on actions
- Provide assistance to appraisees and appraisers regarding appraisal software and processes
- Attend regional revalidation meetings to keep up to date with regional and national developments and training
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with the Exec Medical Director, Responsible Officer for Revalidation; Associate Medical Director; medical staff; medical appraisers; revalidation support team; General Medical Council; relevant committees (including Effective Committee and Local Negotiating Committee); and Royal Colleges.
- Work with system suppliers in relation to the ongoing development of the revalidation and medical appraisal database.
- Support appraisers by gathering and collating patient feedback and requesting and summarising colleague feedback.
- Assist in the revalidation annual report for the Board of Directors
- Adhere to all relevant information governance policies in relation to the revalidation database, which contains sensitive and complex information regarding medical staff
- Provide quality and performance data to clinicians when appropriate
- Arrange on-going training for appraisers and appraises
