Job summary
The post holder will support in the provision of a safe and effective Ophthalmology Failsafe service and provide a comprehensive, efficient and effective service to the department. The post holder will support the Ophthalmology team to develop and maintain risk stratification SOP's in relation to patient pathways in relation to follow up requirements. The post holder will work as part of a Multi-disciplinary team and will provide expertise in the proactive management of ophthalmology pathways across specialist Ophthalmology patient pathways from referral to discharge, ensuring the entire pathway is managed smoothly. The Post holder will ensure high levels of patient and clinician satisfaction by being an accessible, customer focused and knowledgeable point of contact. To provide consistent approach across the Trust, using standard operating procedures to ensure that functions of the role are carried out within given time scales.
Main duties of the job
Provide cross cover within speciality/admin teams
To be able to contribute to speciality improvement and efficient processes
To carry out duties consistent with the post as required by the Service Manager
To act as a main point of contact in relation to the Ophthalmology patient pathway position including follow up position.
Answering telephone, email and post queries
To undertake regular reviews of patients who do not attend and ensure they receive two opportunities to attend their hospital appointment and that the GP's are notified if they fail to attend, liaising with the Ophthalmology welfare officer in relation to paediatrics.
To communicate effectively with the wide ranging contacts to ensure service efficiencies are maintained.
