Job summary

A vacancy has arisen for a band 5 or graduate Orthotist to join our established NHS In-House Orthotic department.

Based in a busy acute NHS Teaching Trust the Orthotic department provides both in-patient care and outpatient clinics at Doncaster, Bassetlaw and Mexborough Hospitals.

The department is busy with a diverse range of clinical conditions treated.

The successful candidate would take part in our trust preceptorship programme and our Orthotic development package. Multi-disciplinary working is actively encouraged throughout the Trust with a strong emphasis on clinical governance, evidence based practice and continuing professional development.

We are looking for committed professionals with a flexible approach to delivering superior orthotic care. If this is you we would welcome your application.

All applicants must be HPC registered and preferably a member of BAPO.

Main duties of the job

  • To promote clinical excellence through his/her practice within their level of competence and developing skill set
  • To manage a clinical caseload within a defined clinical area working autonomously, but with access to advice/support from senior staff.
  • Work collaboratively in the multidisciplinary team to plan treatment and care of individual patients.
  • Work in collaboration with other health care professionals within the wider health community to drive the excellence in clinical care and service improvement within the speciality.
  • To act as a resource for patients assessing their individual needs and observing the principles of holistic care when planning treatments that are sensitive to the ethnic, cultural and spiritual needs of the patient.
