Job summary
This is a great opportunity to be part of the Dermatology department who are seeking a Trust appointed Locum Consultant Dermatologist to join a team of 6 consultants, 6 Specialty Doctors, 1 GP Registrar, specialist nursing staff and fully functional wider MDT, supported by input from all associated specialties.
Main duties of the job
- The successful applicant will be based at Doncaster Royal Infirmary however, you will be expected to contribute to the delivery and development of Dermatology services across all Trust sites to maintain the highest clinical standards in Dermatological conditions
- To provide outpatient and minor operative services in Dermatology, including cancer services. To share with colleagues the provision of Dermatology advice to medical and surgical inpatients
- To work with colleagues, both medical and nursing to improve and advance the service.
- To share with colleagues the responsibility for the management of the Department.
- To share with colleagues the responsibility for teaching and training of trainees, resident medical staff, nursing staff, and medical students.
- To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing professional development (CPD).

This is a new post to cover increasing demand in Dermatology department and we are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and forward-looking physician to join an evolving dynamic department. Flexible working is available with this post.
The appointee will be required to offer the appropriate level of skills in general Dermatology whilst expertise in a sub-specialist area complementary to those offered by the present consultants would also be desirable.
Applicants must possess MRCP or equivalent, be fully registered with the GMC and hold a licence to practice.
The Dermatology department activity levels 19/20, including outpatient minor op procedures:-
- 9,047 new appointments
- 25,887 follow up appointments
Doncaster Site
The Dermatology Department has undergone significant expansion since it was established as a combined outpatient and inpatient facility in 1983. The Outpatients unit is based at Lincoln suite and access to inpatient beds is available on ward 17 (an acute medical ward) with daily specialist nurse treatment facility. There is a dynamic, innovative, friendly and enthusiastic team of Dermatology nurses led By Sister Deborah Jobburns. The team of Dermatology specialist nurses provides nurse led clinics, skin surgery, nurse prescribing, phototherapy, photodynamic therapy, and day treatments.
Specialist clinics include:
- Cosmetic camouflage
- Chiropody
- Phototherapy
- Photodynamic Therapy
- Monthly joint clinics with plastic surgery and oncology
There is a monthly Trust-wide multidisciplinary Audit half-day programme to which the Dermatology Department contributes, and a North Trent Dermatology Educational programme. There is a strong emphasis on teaching of undergraduates, postgraduates and nurses.
Textbooks and Dermatology Journals are available in the Dermatology department.
