Here at Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospital Trust, an excellent opportunity has arisen to appoint a Part-time 30 hours per week Advanced Clinical Coder. We pride ourselves in our flexible working policy and flexible working patterns.

The successful candidate will provide a vital coding role within an excellent and supportive coding team. The Trust has a reputation for consistently achieving targets and for high quality clinically coded data. The candidate will require the Accredited (ACC) Clinical Coding qualification and one year's experience post ACC or equivalent experience in a wide range of specialties.
Main duties of the job
Clinically coded data is fundamental in helping the Trust deliver against its overall goal of becoming the 'safest Trust in England, outstanding in all that we do'. The income of the Trust is reliant on accurate and timely coded data. This information is also used for resource management, clinical research, clinical audit, and healthcare contracting, and service provision both locally and nationally.The post holder will be responsible for:
o Abstracting and analysing complex patient clinical information and translating into a standardised coded format applying National Clinical Coding Rules and Conventions.
o Mentoring and supporting non-qualified clinical coding staff, dealing with complex coding queries escalated through the Clinical Coding Team.
o Reviewing and auditing of coding that has already been coded.
o Improving the accuracy and depth of clinical coded data through engagement with Clinicians and Directorate Managers.
o Contributing to timely completion of coded activity to ensure that Trust Income is secured and data complete for national submission.
The Clinical Coding Team at Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust comprises of a Clinical Coding Manager, an Assistant Clinical Coding Manager, a Clinical Coding Training Manager, a Clinical Coding Data Quality Systems Manager, 3 Team Leaders, 15 Clinical Coders across 3 sites.
