Job summary
The Surgical Division will be recruiting an experienced senior nurse to work within the established Trauma & Orthopaedic Matron / Lead Nurse team. The Division supports all Surgical Specialities, however this post will have a main focus within Trauma & Orthopaedics, joining an established Speciality MDT.
This is an exciting time to join the established Trauma & Orthopaedic MDT with the opening of a new Elective Orthopaedic Centre at Mexborough Hospital and progression of Sustainable Trauma services at Doncaster Royal Infirmary and Bassetlaw Hospitals.
Applications are welcomed from Band 7 or above Healthcare professionals who are currently working within a senior leadership role and wish to further develop their professional and leadership career within a range of surgical specialties. Experience of Trauma & Orthopaedic pathway working would be an advantage to support speciality specific focus on elective and emergency pathways.
You will be expected to participate in the Trust wide senior nurse 7 day rota support safe staffing oversight and providing senior nursing support across all sites.
Support and Development will be provided to the right candidate who has a motivated and enthusiastic approach to delivery of high quality services and strives to support development and growth of staff within a diverse range of services. Recruitment, Retention, Development and inclusivity of staff is a key part of the post holders duties.
Main duties of the job
The Matron team within the Division are a significant senior professional leadership group , responsible for professional nursing practice within the Division and the management of nurses within its' area of responsibility.
Matron is accountable for the standard of nursing practice and the quality of patient care delivered by nurses
Matron will escalate any concerns relating directly to their designated group of services at the earliest opportunity.
Matron will support and participate in the Trust Bronze Manager rota
Matron provides a high level of skills, professional knowledge and advice on nursing and quality to the Division Management Team.
As a senior nurse within the Division of Surgery, the Matron is a core member of the Division Management Team and participates in, and contributes to the corporate planning and performance management of the Trust.
Matron is expected to provide professional leadership and management in the delivery of a high quality, patient centred nursing care, and to drive vision and creativity in developing nursing practice within the Division, leading change and managing its' impact on nurses.
