Job summary
We are seeking to appoint a Failsafe Engagement Lead to the Doncaster and Bassetlaw Diabetic Eye Screening Programme.
The Doncaster & Bassetlaw Diabetic Eye Screening Programme screens over 30,000 patients each year across a number of fixed and mobile screening venues throughout Doncaster and Bassetlaw to deliver a consistently high quality diabetic eye screening service for people with diabetes. The role of Failsafe Engagement Lead is a key function of the department in addition to usual care, to ensure that if something goeswrong in the screening pathway, processes are in place to identify what is going wrong and what action follows to ensure a safe outcome.
The post holder will be expected to line manage the Admin/Failsafe team and to deputise in the absence of the Programme Manager(s) to maintain leadership responsibilities to the service and to act as a mentor when required. This will also include appraisals for some staff, to be identified by the Programme Manager(s).
Main duties of the job
- To assist the Programme Manager(s) in analysing the performance of the service against national and local standards, in line with governance arrangements, examine data and assist in writing reports, for KPI's, programme performance and tracking ophthalmology patients.
- To have Managerial responsibility for the Administration/Failsafe staff
- Ensure that all Failsafe requirements are carried out according to national and local guidelines.
- To deputise in the absence of the Lead Programme Manager(s) to maintain leadership responsibilities and attend meetings in a management capacity.
- Be responsible for the development and implementation of Failsafe protocols and procedures for the screening programme
- To ensure robust Failsafe policies and procedures are in place to identify incidents and serious incidents (SI) appropriately and following trust policy, report though Datix.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports and present the key performance indicators to Screening and Immunisation Team (SIT), NHS England and NHS England Screening Quality Assurance team.
- To supervise validation of the single collated central list with GP practices
- To continually audit the performance of the programme against national and local standards, in line with governance arrangements, analyse data and write or assist with writing reports as necessary regular audit of all excluded categories within the screening pathway.
