Job summary

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to work within the area of our chaplaincy team.

This role will include working within our three hospital sites, providing spiritual, pastoral and religious support to patients, families, and staff.

There will be an expectation of participating in a 24 hour out of hours on call service.

Main duties of the job

To be part of the on call provision which chaplaincy provides to theTrust.To support the team in its provision and maintenance of worship andquiet spaces which patients, their carers/families and staff may require.To provide appropriate chapel worship and bedside services asrequested.To promote a model of good practice and spiritual care to all patients,relatives and staff within healthcare and supporting all aspects of life inHospitalTo ensure a high quality of bereavement supportTo promote a team work approach to chaplaincy within the Trust and tofacilitate the delivery of spiritual careTo share responsibility in providing information to allow chaplaincy auditactivitiesThe post-holder is responsible for sharing in the provision anddevelopment of a comprehensive Chaplaincy Service within the Trustthat seeks to meet the spiritual and multi-faith religious needs ofpatients, carers and staff.The post-holder will be a reference point for spiritual/ religious matterswithin the organisation and a link with religious/ community agenciesoutside the organisation.The post-holder will plan and conduct services of public worship.Undertake rites of passage, rituals or other spiritual activities to meetpeople's needs. Be involved in and support special events such asmemorial services and funerals.The post-holder will contribute to ensuring compliance of Trust policies,

  • Proven record of sustained pastoral experience (2 yrs. +)
  • Experience of working with people of different faiths/cultures.
  • Supporting people going through life limiting illness, death/trauma and grief.
  • Ability to respond creatively to the pastoral, religious and spiritual needs of patients, staff and families

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a hospital chaplaincy

Eligibility/Qualifications/Training

Essential

  • Educated to a degree level or equivalent
  • Authorised for public ministry or recognised by an official faith/belief community as capable of exercising responsibilities of advice, support in spiritual and pastoral care.

Desirable

  • Able to registrar with UKBHC/CHCC

Knowledge

  • Knowledge and awareness of different faith communities and of spiritual need

Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills IT/Computer literate
