Job summary

The post holder will be responsible for the provision of effective medical rota management coordination for the Division, which will include a number of Specialties, across all sites.

The role supports Division management and involves the recording, monitoring and maintaining staffing levels during annual leave, study leave, professional leave and other unplanned absence, to ensure continuity of service and clinical safety is maintained.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide a key role in the Trust by supporting the appropriate use of temporary medical staffing; this requires an enthusiastic, diligent and process-driven team-player.

Possession of excellent communication skills will also assist the post-holder maintain regular contact with junior and senior medical staff, Clinical Staffing Team Leader and Divisional Management teams.

Experience in working with and supporting medical rotas is essential for this position to facilitate the required support to the Clinical Staffing Team Leader and staffing team.

Job description

Job responsibilities

To produce, manage, update on a daily basis and distribute rotas for all grades of medical staff within the various groups to comply with agreed rota patterns and set protocols.

Responsible for supporting the Clinical Staffing Team Leader in the efficient administrative management of the Divisions Medical teams.

Support and brief the Clinical Staffing Team Manager and members of the Management team on all issues relating to medical staff cover and highlighting shortfalls and especially any associated clinical risk in the service provision within the Division.

Ensure that any prospective cover built into the establishment is fully utilised. The use of agency locum medical staff to cover rotas should be, demonstrably, the last resort.

To monitor, maintain and ensure correct authorisation of annual leave, study leave, sick leave etc records for Consultants, Non-Consultant career grades and trainee doctors, arranging cover whenever necessary and that sufficient medical staff re available to deliver the service.

Negotiate essential cover with Consultants, SpRs, Specialty Doctors and Junior Medical Staff, to maintain the Care Groups Rotas and On-call Rota.
