Advanced Apprentice Therapy Assistant Musculoskeletal Outpatients
This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Musculoskeletal Therapy Outpatient team at Doncaster Royal Infirmary. You will work alongside physiotherapists and therapy assistants to provide musculoskeletal rehabilitation for adults with a variety of conditions.
Conditional progression to a Band 3 post upon completion of Level 3 Senior Health Care Support Worker Apprentice within 27 months of commencing post and subject to further informal interview.
All Advanced Apprentice Therapy Assistants will complete an induction programme and the Care Certificate upon starting in the role. It is essential that you then achieve an Advanced Level 3 Senior Health Care Support Worker qualification within 27 months of commencing this post which includes attendance at Doncaster College 2 days per month as part of the 20% off the job training that will be provided.
This is a supervised post. You will be allocated a mentor throughout the 27 months apprenticeship to supervise and support you with your learning.

Main duties of the job
You will be required to work alongside therapists in the management of some shared patients completing joint assessments, but also independently managing your own patient caseload. You must have great communication and time management skills and be able to prioritise taking into consideration the variety of patients' needs and have the ability to be flexible and to work as part of a team. You will be able to follow instructions as well as being able to show initiative and to work independently. Documentation is an integral part of the role and you will be expected to document within patients' records. Computer skills are essential as you will be accessing patient details and ordering equipment on the Clinical Therapy Information systems.

- To be an Advanced Apprentice Therapy assistant within the speciality working towards completion of the Advanced Senior Health Care Support Worker Apprenticeship over 27 months.
- The prime function of the role is to assist in the assessment and treatment of patients within the specialty under the guidance of a qualified therapist.
- To manage own caseload and to provide a high standard of assessment, management, treatment and advice to meet the needs of patients within agreed guidelines and protocols.
- To undertake specific clinical responsibilities or projects supporting the overall delivery of the service as directed by a qualified therapist.
- To work independently with identified patients, being the first contact from the clinical speciality when determined by a qualified therapist.
- To work collaboratively with colleagues in health, social care, local authority and other agencies to meet the needs of patients.
