Job summary
This post offers a great opportunity for the successful applicant to extend their skills and knowledge in musculoskeletal physiotherapy. There are 2 posts, one will primarily be split between Doncaster Royal Infirmary and our hub site at Vermuyden (Thorne), the other will be across our Retford and Bassetlaw Hospital sites. There is the possibility of working across any of our other sites and community based clinics.
The physiotherapy service across Doncaster and Bassetlaw undertakes a number of out of hours services, including oncall. The post holder will be assessed for suitability to support one of these services.

Main duties of the job
As a physiotherapist working within the outpatient department, you will be a valued member of the team, providing high quality care to patients, in a professional and compassionate manner. You will be able to contribute ideas and support clinical initiatives in order to provide evidence based patient care.
The department is committed to a CPD programme including monthly clinical supervision with a practitioner, as well as 3 days clinical CPD per year. The post holder will contribute to supervision of others and will be supported to attend a clinical educator's course within 6 months of appointment.
Applicants applying for this Band 6 post must have a qualification in Physiotherapy and hold current registration with the HCPC; with more than 12 months experience as a Band 5 physiotherapist including experience of working within MSK services. Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential and a positive approach to problem solving.
A band 5 to 6 development post would be considered for the right candidate. Any offer would be subject to completion of a physiotherapy course and registration with the Health Professions Council.

At Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals we deliver outpatient physiotherapy services across a large geographical area including the main hospital sites (Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Bassetlaw District General and Montagu Hospitals) and community hubs (Askern, Edlington, Thorne, Harworth and Retford).
The service comprises of multiple smaller teams who work collectively to deliver a high level of patient care across the Doncaster and Bassetlaw region.

- To provide highly specialist physiotherapy assessments over a range of conditions and complexities using advanced clinical reasoning to analyse clinical and non-clinical findings to form accurate physiotherapy diagnoses and prognoses.
- To assess patient understanding of assessment and treatment in accordance with the Consent Policy, and to assist members of the team to work within the legal framework for patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment.
- To provide health education, health promotion and prevention advice.
- To manage a clinical caseload, organising this effectively and efficiently with regard to clinical priorities and use of time with access to expert support as required, both for self and more junior staff.
- To formulate and recommend to others the best course of physiotherapy intervention and/or treatment programmes to meet the agreed goals set with the individual patient/or carer, using evidence based practice and a wide range of treatment skills and options.
- To evaluate patient progress, review goal setting and alter treatment programmes as required.
- To use a range of verbal and non-verbal communication methods to communicate effectively with patients and carers to maximise rehabilitation potential.
