Job summary
In critical care at DBTH we are dedicated to improving outcomes and care through our established multidisciplinary rehabilitation team. We have established pathways, processes and resources to support patients recovering from critical illness. We want to expand our team of 1.2 WTE dedicated rehabilitation co-ordinators and further develop and evaluate our pathways with the support of a physiotherapist/occupational therapist/nurse or other AHP who has specialist critical care and/or rehabilitation expertise. At DBTH we have 28 beds combined level 3 (ICU) and level 2 (HDU) across our two units at Doncaster Royal Infirmary and Bassetlaw Hospital. We care for a wide range of adult critically ill medical and surgical emergency and elective cases with around 1000 admissions per year.
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated health care professional to help lead the rehabilitation service within our units. The role includes assessing patients' holistic rehabilitation needs, setting goals and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and relevant allied health professionals. Also leading follow-up clinics and our established support group, and providing education to staff, patients and relatives.
Main duties of the job
We have a critical care nurse consultant and clinical nurse educators to support you and a highly supportive consultant intensivist team with a dedicated intensivist rehabilitation lead. We will ensure you have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge and undertake further academic study if desired.
Successful candidates will have the opportunity to develop and modify our rehabilitation pathways to best meet service needs. You will be given full support from the senior nursing, medical and education team to help with development of the service. There are also many opportunities to be involved in quality improvement and research projects.
Physical and psychological assessment of patients with critical illness to define rehabilitation goals and formulate an individualised rehabilitation plan.
Lead and coordinate rehabilitation service delivery and development through the use of effective evidence based practice in line with agreed national standards
About us
At Doncaster we have 22 beds combined level 3 (ICU) and level 2 (HDU). We care for a wide range of adult critically ill medical and surgical emergency and elective cases. The pandemic has given national recognition to how highly skilled critical care nurses are and this has led to increased investment for staff and education. We work in 3 teams of five nurses with a supernumerary senior nurse co-ordinator so you get the experience and excitement of working across a large unit but still have the friendly and supportive atmosphere.
