An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional individual to undertake the role of Senior Radiographer in Nuclear medicine at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As part of the team within Nuclear medicine, you will be an outstanding and experienced radiographer with an intrinsic vision working within a dynamic and innovative Department.

Demonstrating professional and clinical leadership, the successful candidate will work closely with the NM Clinical Lead and Consultant Radiologists to provide a high quality, patient focused clinical Nuclear Medicine service.

Proven experience operating within a complex environment at a senior level, with strong influential and engagement skills across the multidisciplinary team are essential to this role. You will have a flexible and professional approach, demonstrating good organisational and time management, together with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to remain calm and manage unexpected demands is critical to this role.

A flexible approach to work is an essential part of the post, in line with Medical Imaging Service Policy of promoting the extended working day / week to benefit our patients.

Main duties of the job

Demonstrating professional and clinical leadership, the successful candidate will work closely with the NM Clinical Lead and Consultant Radiologists to provide a high quality, patient focused clinical Nuclear Medicine Service. You will be responsible for Imaging of patients within Nuclear medicine, the calculation of the required amount of pharmaceutical product and the administering of the radiopharmaceutical.

With the skills to identify appropriate learning and development opportunities for staff, you will work collaboratively with other Clinical Leads to understand service requirements and compliance.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  1. To act as an operator for the provision of nuclear medicine services under the terms of the Trust's procedures for both nuclear medicine and CT procedures.
  2. To authorise the performance of individual imaging procedures in accordance with departmental procedures.
  3. To assist in the planning of the workload of the nuclear medicine unit to ensure the optimised usage of radiopharmaceutical products, of staff time, and of gamma camera time in order to minimise delay to patients.
  4. Together with other staff, to manufacture, check, and release the required sterile pharmaceutical products intended for administration to patients as and when required in order that the nuclear medicine imaging procedures requested may be performed.
  5. To perform appropriate quality assurance procedures as required by the departmental radiopharmaceutical manufacturing procedures to ensure compliance with the terms of the manufacturing licence under which such medicinal products are manufactured on this site.
  6. To calculate the required amount of a medicinal product to administer to an individual patient. Both the amount of the medicinal product and, in the case of a radioactive product, the activity of the radioactive material at the planned time of administration need to be accurately determined in order to ensure patient safety.

To modify the required activity of a radioactive medicinal product as required, in accordance with departmental procedures and with the requirements of the investigation being performed.
