This is an excellent opportunity to join our well established inpatient Orthopaedic therapy team, working across both elective and trauma pathways. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated physiotherapist to join our teams at Bassetlaw Hospital and DRI.
The post will suit either a Band 5 physiotherapist who is ready for the challenge of a more senior role, or a physiotherapist with experience of working with Orthopaedic patients in the acute setting and is wanting to develop their clinical and leadership skills. We are looking to recruit a Band 6 or can consider a Band 5 development role dependent upon experience.
Our Orthopaedic Multi-Disciplinary Team are excited to welcome all new staff to the speciality at a time when elective services are exploring innovative and proven ways for the whole team to improve patient outcomes, reduce length of stay and reduce the pandemic driven elective backlog. The successful candidates will hold the appropriate Physiotherapy qualifications, have HPC registration and be able to meet the requirements of the post outlined in the Job Description and Person Specification.
The ability to work flexibly, over 7 days and across sites is essential.
Main duties of the job
To provide highly specialist assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients with complex orthopaedic/musculoskeletal physiotherapy problems as an autonomous practitioner within a clinical speciality area. To take responsibility for self and team development and contribute to service development.

To provide highly specialist physiotherapy assessments over a range of conditions and complexities using advanced clinical reasoning to analyse clinical and non-clinical findings to form accurate physiotherapy diagnoses and prognoses.
To assess patient understanding of assessment and treatment in accordance with the Consent Policy, and to assist members of the team to work within the legal framework for patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment.
To provide health education, health promotion and prevention advice.
To manage a clinical caseload, organising this effectively and efficiently with regard to clinical priorities and use of time with access to expert support as required, both for self and more junior staff.
To formulate and recommend to others the best course of physiotherapy intervention and/or treatment programmes to meet the agreed goals set with the individual patient/or carer, using evidence based practice and a wide range of treatment skills and options.

- To use a range of verbal and non-verbal communication methods to communicate effectively with patients and carers to maximise rehabilitation potential.
