An exciting opportunity has risen for an enthusiastic, innovative and proactive Band 7 Paediatric Diabetes Specialist Nurse, with an excellent knowledge and clinical skills to join the team at DBTH. You will work in an established and dynamic team and be responsible for holding your own caseload.

We are looking for a highly motivated Paediatric Diabetes Nurse Specialist to fulfil this post. The banding will be reflective of the candidates experience and qualifications, based on their ability to deliver the service. We will consider applications from children's nurses with significant experience working with diabetes patients into a band 6 development role.

Main duties of the job

You will act as an autonomouspractitioner (depending on level of experience) for a group of patients. Maintain links across organisational boundaries, acting as a source of specialist knowledge working within agreed protocols and guidelines

This is a senior nursing role within the organisation and there is an expectation that the post holder will fully contribute to the leadership and delivery of high-quality patient care within the Division.

The prime function of the role is to provide clinical expertise in supporting the delivery of high standards of nursing care for children and young people within their care; by supporting and enhancing the work of the Diabetes Consultant Lead.

  • Be responsible for ensuring the environment and ward processes are responsive to the needs of patients and their carers recognising the importance of privacy, dignity and diversity.
