Job summary

An new and exciting opportunity has been created within the Department of Critical Care requiring the expert skill and knowledge of highly experienced Critical Care Technician. The successful candidate will have a key role in developing and expanding the role in the future. You will be working in an extremely busy 22 bedded Critical Care Unit working along side an friendly and highly motivated multi disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the role will be assisting the anaesthetic team with procedures such as intubations and line insertions. You will also have the responsibility for teaching both nursing and junior medical staff. Along side of this you will also be responsible for assuring that equipment stock levels are maintained as well as ensuring the maintenance of equipment.

  • Extensive post registration experience in operating services or within speciality
  • Competent to assist with a range of invasive procedures
  • Experience transferring critically ill patients within and between hospitals
  • Evidence of learning and development in line with HCPC/NMC requirements

Desirable

  • Experience working within a Critical Care environment

Qualifications

Essential

  • City and Guilds 752/ NVQ level 3/ Diploma in operating Department Practice or RGN with anaesthetic or critical care qualification
  • ILS
  • Teaching/Assessing/Mentoring qualification
  • HCPC/NMC registered

Desirable

  • Health related degree
  • Relevant post-registration qualifications
  • ALS
