Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust

Senior Cardiac Physiologist (Arrhythmia)

The closing date is 29 March 2026

Job summary

An opportunity has arisen in our cardiac rhythm management team for a senior cardiac physiologist/scientist. The person in this role should be independently performing pacemaker/ICD and CRT device follow up and be able to troubleshoot, reprogramme and escalate when required. They should also be independent in implants or working towards this competency.

It would be desirable to have experience working in the cardiac catheter lab and have the knowledge of procedures that a paediatric centre may undertake. As a rotational role, this position also includes participation in the non-invasive service e.g. CPETs, exercise testing and Holter analysis.

This is an opportunity for the successful candidate to build on their experiences in cardiac physiology and develop in the challenging world of paediatrics and congenital/inherited heart disease.

Paediatric experience is not essential.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is expected to work independently in complex devices. They will have good knowledge of cardiology with a focus on management of arrhythmias. Competencies in troubleshooting during follow up clinics as well as in an implant is necessary.

It would be desirable to have good knowledge of the cardiac catheter lab, and the procedures undertaken in a paediatric centre.

A contribution to other areas within the service will be required when the need dictates: including exercise testing and other ambulatory investigations. This is a rotational role, and the successful candidate will also be expected to participate in the organisation of the day-to-day workload in the various service areas.
