The hospital provides a comprehensive range of paediatric specialities at tertiary care level. In association with the Institute of Child Health there are opportunities for research, training and development in all aspects of health & disease in children.
The successful candidate will gain experience in and exposure to paediatric congenital hand surgery including vascular malformations, but not brachial plexus or trauma, as well as general plastics cases.
Based in central London, GOSH offers flexible working, help with childcare and travel, excellent training and development opportunities and assistance with finding somewhere to live.
Main duties of the job
The post will have primary responsibility for the management of the hand surgery cases and for undertaking hand surgery research and is a point of continuity for hand surgery care within the Trust. The postholder is, of course, free to participate in any other plastic surgical cases that he has a particular interest in and will be encouraged to do so, providing that this is not to the detriment of hand surgery patients. Previously orthopaedic trainees have been considered and appointed to the post, providing they fulfil the criteria and the orthopaedic department have been willing for them to join them on an ad-hoc basis.
