CONSULTANT PAEDIATRIC ENT SURGEON (7 PAs)

Applications are invited for the above post at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust. This is a less than full time substantive post. The holder will be part of the paediatric ENT department, in the Sight and Sound Directorate. This is a 7 PA per week role supporting the consultant group in delivering a tertiary and quaternary level paediatric ENT service. The holder is required to have a fellowship in Paediatric ENT and is expected to have a leading role in developing the existing paediatric ENT research portfolio particularly with regards to otology. There is a 1 in 8 on call commitment.

Duties of the post will include a weekly paediatric ENT outpatient clinic, a research clinic, theatre sessions with patient related administration and attendance at departmental meetings. The post holder will also provide ENT support to the GOSH craniofacial team.

The specialty lead is Miss Michelle Wyatt and the department consists of 9 Consultants (excluding this post), 5 specialist trainees and 2 Clinical Fellow posts that are educationally approved for training in ENT Surgery. The department also includes two ENT SHO grade doctors.

Main duties of the job

Specific Clinical Duties

o The post holder will be expected to provide a paediatric ENT Surgery Service at tertiary level.

o The post holder must work flexibly with colleagues to achieve the hospital agreed planned activity for inpatient and outpatient services.

o The post holder must work with colleagues to ensure all inpatients are reviewed every 24 hours by a senior doctor.

o The post holder will be required to participate in audit and contribute to the development and maintenance of clinical protocols and guidelines.
