Applications are invited to the post of Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Audiovestibular Medicine at Great Ormond Street Hospital, NHS FT. The post is fixed term for 3 months, available for 1.0 WTE, although part time applicants may be considered.

The post gives the opportunity of gaining experience in Paediatric Audiovestibular Medicine at a tertiary/quaterny level. It includes areas such as Cochlear Implant, BAHA, Craniofacial syndromes, Cleft Palate, Vestibular Medicine, Auditory Processing difficulty, Auditory Neuropathy, Dual Sensory Impairment and other conditions with complex medical profiles.

All candidates will need GMC registration and should have competencies of Higher Medical or Surgical Training (or equivalent) in Audiovestibular Medicine, Otolaryngology, General medicine, Paediatrics or general Practice. UK applicants would usually have completed the Intercollegiate MRCP, FRCS (ORL-HNS)(or equivalent). Candidates with MSc or diploma in Audiovestibular Medicine will be considered. Candidates are expected to have experience of Audiovestibular Medicine or Otolaryngology. Candidates with experience in Community Paeds, General Medicine, General Practice and Neurology will be considered.

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Fellow is responsible for the smooth day to day running of the department under the close guidance of the Consultants. They need to develop good working relationships with other key departments such as ENT, Haematology/Oncology, Radiology, Neurology and Ophthalmology. They will work with the Specialist registrar in the department.

The post provides the opportunity of gaining experience in Paediatric Audiovestibular Medicine at a tertiary level, particularly in areas such as Cochlear Implant, BAHA, Craniofacial anomalies, Cleft palate, Vestibular Medicine, Auditory Processing difficulty, Auditory Neuropathy, Dual Sensory Impairment and other conditions with complex medical profiles. The post holder will have mainly clinical commitments, with sessions for admin work and opportunity to attend in-house teaching sessions. The timetable will have some flexibility around the interests of the individual.
