Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team at Great Ormond Street Hospital as a Family Therapist (Family and Systemic Psychotherapist). The post holder would join a well established multi disciplinary inpatient team at the Mildred Creak Unit (MCU), working with children experiencing a range of complex and often enduring mental health difficulties. The post holder will also team of six family therapists who are part of Psychological Services and who work as part of GOSH mental health services and with paediatric specialities across the wider hospital.

This is a part time post, and the successful candidate will work within the Mildred Creak Unit (MCU, specialist in-patient unit). There will be opportunity to bring experience, to build upon existing skills working with families with complex mental health difficulties working alongside other experienced colleagues and disciplines within in the team. Family and Systemic Psychotherapy is highly valued at GOSH and professional development is encouraged and well supported.

Main duties of the job

You will be part of an experienced multi disciplinary team working with children and families where there are complex and high risk mental health difficulties. Alongside colleagues and in conjunction with colleagues, you will be involved in carrying out assessments, developing systemic formulations and contributing to treatment plans e.g. family and systemic psychotherapy. You will also have care coordinator responsibilities for specific children/young people. Part of your work will also involve offering advice and consultation to other disciplines, staff involved in the children's care as well as working with referrers, other agencies and outpatients services e.g. to support discharge.
