Job summary

Outpatients Staff NurseWe are looking for a motivated experienced nurse to join our Outpatients team, who is keen to develop their skills andknowledge in leadership and there clinical skills. The Staff Nurse post will:Involve direct patient care and supporting the Clinical teams manage the long-term conditions in partnership with the families such as accessing central lines, administering IV Drugs, performing venipuncture and clinically assessing emergencies as a first responder.Be a role model for high standards, professional behaviour and upholding the trust values.Providing teaching and support for the unregistered workforce in the department to ensure they are able to developappropriate clinical skills.Actively involved in project work, instigating and improving care pathways and the patient experience of the child andyoung person.As a visible leader make sure that the child and family have the best possible experience, listen to feedback andconcerns.To be at the forefront of new technological advances in nursing and medical paediatric research.

The post offers a range of experiences requiring a range of skills you will be supported by both our Education team and the experienced Nurses within the Outpatients team to support your professional development.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide the highest standard of nursing care for the children, young people and their families at all times
  • To plan, assess, implement and evaluate programmes of care for individual children and to supervise other staff in this activity
  • To ensure an ongoing welcoming, caring and safe environment is provided for the children, young people and their families
  • To supervise and support members of the ward team as required, ensuring that all patients receive appropriate care
  • To ensure that treatments prescribed by the medical staff are carried out, and that multidisciplinary team members are informed of changes in the patient's condition
  • To actively assist in the education and practical training of learners and junior staff at every opportunity. To work in co-operation with their university in order to provide uniformity and promotion of professional standards.
  • To participate in informal and formal teaching.
  • To maintain confidentiality surrounding the child's or young person's admission and treatment at all times.
  • To ensure that all patient care is documented, and that all relevant documentation is completed accurately and within agreed timescales using Trust approved documentation, in line with NMC, CQC and Trust standards
  • To have knowledge of and adhere to ward and Trust policy and professional standards. To ensure that colleagues do likewise
