GOSH Pharmacy Manufacturing provide over 10,000 doses to our patients per annum.
The Head of Pharmacy Manufacturing role leads the service supporting:
- Regulatory Compliance (MHRA/NHSE QA)
- Technical Pharmaceutical expertise
- Operational Leadership
- Innovative practice
- Quality Improvement (e.g. EPIC Digital Closed loop systems)
- Senior Leadership and Management at an organisational level in respect to Pharmaceutical Manufacture
- Quality Management System Improvement
- Research and Development (Drug dose design)
Main duties of the job
- Maintain & develop the highest standards of patient-focused care in the provision of aseptic services under the direction of the Chief Pharmacist
- Ensure the service is compliant with NHS/MHRA and other related guidelines (as appropriate), supplying aseptically prepared medicines, fit for their intended use, in a timely manner. The post holder manages preparation, manufacturing and supply of aseptically prepared products
- Lead on the Production responsibilities of the Quality Management System
- Work closely with pharmacy leads (including; Clinical Trials (CT), Clinical and Patient services teams) to provide and continually develop a responsive service to meet the demands of clinical and research activities of Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust
- Ensure software systems used within aseptic services are fit for purpose and updated accordingly.
- Participate in the development of services within pharmacy and the wider Trust to improve patient experience including; outpatients and inpatient services for NHS and International and Private patients
- Ensure education and training in relation to aseptic services is provided to medical, nursing and pharmacy staff
- Review and implementation of new technologies
- Directly line manage the Aseptic Services Managers and indirectly manage the remaining production staff ensuring that regular appraisals and objective setting take place
- Monitor critical data and manage the reporting of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
