Senior Paediatric Audiologist

Job summary

Due to maternity leave, we're offering 2 roles for experienced Paediatric Audiologists to join the Audiology Team at Great Ormond Street Hospital. The post will provide an excellent opportunity to develop your experience in complex and advanced Paediatric Audiology in a unique setting. You will be carrying out general Audiology and be exposed and trained to do complex assessment processes such as APD, BAHA, Microsuction, Vestibular and Electrophysiological testing (in line with service need). The department has close links to the Cochlear Implant team and there may be an opportunity for exposure. There may also be an opportunity to see private patients as part of the department rotation for Senior Audiologists (service requirement permitting). There will be many opportunities to learn with the unique patient population found here alongside excellent CPD opportunities (Internal & External).

You will be expected to oversee the management or act as POC for a clinical area in conjunction with the Band 8's alongside line management responsibilities. Research and project management is desirable with several active studies running. You will need a minimum of a BSc in Audiology or equivalent. You must also be HCPC(clinical scientist) /AHCS registered and have post qualification paediatric experience.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will perform the following combination of clerical and clinical duties without supervision
  • To be able to perform diagnostic audiological assessments to assist in the evaluation of hearing disorders
  • To be able to modify, where necessary, diagnostic audiological assessments on children of varying ages, and those with a variety of syndromes, developmental delay, challenging behaviour, communication difficulties and physical impairments in order to obtain reliable information
  • To be responsible for the monitoring and updating of audiological protocols within the Audiology Department in liaison with the Lead Audiologist
  • To initiate and develop plans for the improvements of Audiology services
  • Undertake further training for professional development as required by registration protocols
  • Promote a learning environment within the Audiology department to encourage staff training and development
