This strategic and distinctive role centres on the development and delivery of high-quality clinical pharmacy technical support. As medicines become increasingly complex, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring safe, effective, and innovative medicines management practices throughoutthe organisation

We are seeking a highly experienced Medicines Management Technician with a strong background in hospital pharmacy and demonstrable leadership and team management experience. Experience working with paediatric patients is desirable but not essential. You will possessexcellent communication skills and a passion for developing Medicines Management Technicians and delivering safe, effective, and patient-centred care

Main duties of the job

Leading the provision and strategic development of pharmacy medicines management technician services across the Trust.

Providing leadership and professional support to medicines management technicians Trustwide.

Line managing staff, including conducting regular one-to-ones, accompanied ward visits, annual appraisals, and addressing performance issues.

Collaborating with the pharmacy education team to develop and assure education, competency assessments, and technical ward processes for pharmacy staff.

Supporting the induction, training, and supervision of new ward-based pharmacy staff.

Developing, implementing, and monitoring standards for the pharmacy technical service.

Creating and maintaining policies and procedures related to medicines management.

Delivering training to ward staff on medicines management practices.

Providing medicines management support to wards and clinics where required, including medicines reconciliation, discharge planning, and patient counselling.

Promoting safe and effective medicines management at ward level, including medicines storage and ordering, stock rotation, waste reduction, and audit participation.
