A fantastic 12 months fixed term opportunity has become available at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH)

The global pandemic (COVID-19) has demonstrated the importance of Antimicrobial Stewardship and furthermore the key role undertaken by the Antimicrobial Stewardship Pharmacist. The role of Senior Specialist Pharmacist - Paediatric Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) is essential in supporting the Antimicrobial Stewardship agenda, and to join our Clinical Pharmacy Team.

In line with the national Start smart then focus principle, we are looking for a Pharmacist to provide expert pharmaceutical advice, to support and continue to develop the high quality Antimicrobial Stewardship service at GOSH. You will be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team contributing to the safe, rational, cost effective use of antimicrobial and anti-infective agents across the Trust. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about paediatric antimicrobial and anti-infective therapy, as well as contributing to improving the patient/carer experience.

You must have excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills. Experience of providing services to a clinical specialty, multi-disciplinary working and Antimicrobial Stewardship or Infectious Diseases is essential.

Main duties of the job

  • To lead and develop clinical pharmacy services relating to antimicrobial use, in order to ensure safe, clinically effective and economic use of antimicrobials and other medicines.
  • To be the pharmacy lead for the multidisciplinary antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) team.
  • To identify and promote best practice in AMS.
  • To ensure delivery of the clinical governance agenda in relation to drug use, and in particular antimicrobial agents.
