Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Full Time, 9 Month Fixed Term, Senior Dispensing Optician at Great Ormond Street Hospitals
We are looking for an enthusiastic optician experienced in working with children to be part of our busy and varied dispensing service. The Ophthalmology department prescribes spectacles for children of all ages and with a large variety of conditions, many of whom require specialist frames and lenses and will be required to provide a high standard of spectacle dispensing.
Youmust have a caring, sensitive approach and enjoy working with children and their families.
Main duties of the job
- To maintain and run an efficient specialist dispensing service to provide support to the ophthalmology department
- To provide a high standard of dispensing to children of all ages including those with complex dispensing needs
- To advise patients and their parents about appropriate lens forms and frames
- Fit, measure and order all types of spectacles for patients seen at GOSH including specialist frames and lenses
Advise on all types of spectacles

To carry out alterations to frames: cutting and repinning sides, changing pads or bridge.

To carry out the administration required to maintain the service
To help the line manager with the management of the spectacles dispensing service.
To continue to organise and maintain the dispensing rooms
