Job summary

The North Thames Genomic Medicine Service (NT GMS) wishes to appoint an Education, Training and Workforce Lead to provide strategic and operational leadership for a multi-professional approach, enabling mainstreaming genomics through education and transformation programmes and representing both the North Thames Genomic Medicine Service Alliance (NT GMSA) and the North Thames Genomic Laboratory Hub (NT GLH) at a National Level.

As the NHS GMS continues to evolve, the postholder will need to be able to manage and lead within a changing landscape whilst providing stability and support as part of the NT GMS senior leadership team.

The role will be responsible for the leadership and management of the Education, Training and Workforce Development agenda for the integrated NT GMS; incorporating the development of the Education, Training and Workforce Development strategy for the current and future workforce and associated delivery plans across the NT GMS. This entails working closely with partners and stakeholders across the entire geography to develop and support the wider faculty of educators to enable the multi-professional workforce to use genomics safely, effectively and efficiently with a commitment to reducing unwarranted variation and delivering the NHS Long Term Plan commitments outcomes for patients in our geography.

Main duties of the job

The successful postholder will have proven educational leadership experience from working in a large and complex public sector organisation and demonstrable experience of learning needs analysis across the system. Excellent managerial, leadership and organisational skills and the ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders is essential. A good understanding of current issues related to genetics and the NHS landscape would be beneficial.
