Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner - Neurology

Job summary

It is an exciting opportunity to join the neurology and epilepsy team at GOSH as a Trainee ACP. You will be working within a small team of ACP's, covering neuroscience care within the inpatient and outpatient setting. The team works closely with ACP's, Neurologists, Neurosurgeons, Nursing, Allied Health Professionals and Paediatricians to provide specialist and high dependency care to our patients.

You will be supported to complete the ACP pathway, inclusive of non-medical prescribing. The successful applicant will be support by the GOSH Learning Academy (GLA)

The job involves; clinical patient review and management (within your SOP), running independent clinics, management of patient pathways and care, teaching, NMP and undertaking advanced neurology and epilepsy care with close liaison with ICU and HDU areas. Following completion of the trainee post you will join the team to cover the medical rota; high dependency unit; run independent clinics and provide specialist support to staff and families within GOSH.

Main duties of the job

Within the role you will provide support and follow up for the specialist's services within neuroscience such as epilepsy - medical and surgical, high dependency care, neuroinflammatory, neurovascular, maintain databases and provide acute and long-term care for complex neurology patients.

To provide effective clinical leadership, expertise and advice to support the delivery of high-quality nursing and medical care

To provide advanced clinical care through health assessment, initiation of treatment, formulation and alteration of treatment and monitoring of care programmes to children and young people within an agreed scope of practice

To support the development of clinical protocols and care pathways for a specific case load of patients.

To facilitate the development of evidence based clinical practice through improvement, research and audit.

Participate in the education of the multidisciplinary team and trainee NPs.

To evaluate through quality assurance initiatives and assessment of clinical outcomes.

To be an expert clinical resource for other healthcare practitioners
