Job summary

The suitably experienced and qualified professional will work as part of a multi-disciplinary Estates & Facilities team across GOSH estate. The role will include working closely with a number of teams across the Space & Place directorate including Estate, Facilities and Capital Projects, with a particular focus on carbon emission reduction and bringing innovation and efficiency relating to energy use to the organisation.

You will cover a broad range of energy and sustainability related areas ensuring the organisation achieves best practice and value for money in relation to all aspects of this specialist role. They will be an SME who works closely with teams across Space & Place and will be a key stakeholder supporting the formulation and delivery of the objectives for the directorate and wider trust.

The role will encompass working within a diverse range of healthcare premises and systems and delivering on a number of workstreams which include:

  • Management and reporting of utility usage and costs
  • Energy reduction projects
  • Environmental surveys
  • Providing energy forecasting
  • Energy generating plant including boiler plants
  • DHWS & CWS systems
  • Ventilation plant
  • Air conditioning and refrigeration

Main duties of the job

  • Support the Estates team in advising on the efficient operation of the Trusts' Building Management System in relation to the field of expertise. Maintain the Trust's temperature policy. To support the sustainability agenda and Net Zero emissions targets ensuring compliance with all statutory and mandatory performance and reporting requirements relating to energy. This includes CHPQA, UK-ETS, Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, Medium Combustion Plant Directive and any other energy-related statutory compliance requirement
  • Manage the relationship with Crown Commercial Services for the procurement of energy, ensuring accurate data is provided to enable accurate forecasting of costs. Advise the Trust in good time before the existing contract is due to expire and advise on procurement options. Responsibility for the Trust Utilities budgets and monitoring expenditure of all the Utilities Budgets - Electricity, Gas Water and compliance costs
  • Responsibility for compliance with Health and Safety requirements for all areas under his/her jurisdiction.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication, and confidentiality of information.
  • Act as a role model by demonstrating leadership and expertise, and by maintaining credibility within the Division, the wider health care community and external agencies, ensuring a positive image of the Trust is maintained
