The CVAT Team is part of Interventional Radiology (IR). We are looking for amotivated, experienced staff nurse to complement our team.Interventional Radiology has 3 operating suites for all IR procedures of which vascular access is a large part. As part of CVAT, you will be working as part of a very small team, but within the larger IR Team.
We are responsible for all referrals for IR CVAD procedures within the Trust.You must be a good communicator with strong interpersonal skills and be willing to undertake training specific to the requirements of the service. You will be able to work on your own initiative and as part of the team. We are looking for a colleague with experience of caring for children with CVADs and the experience of how to trouble-shoot the problems that arise. Knowledge ofworking on the ward will be useful & the ability to juggle the multiple demands required in the CVAT role.
Working along your CVAT colleagues, you will use your teaching skills and clinical knowledge to enhance the learning environment, facilitate staff knowledge & development to promote quality improvement of patient care. Main duties of the job
o To work as a skilled member of the team providing a high standard of holistic care to the children and families within the hospital across all services. This role requires you to possess the ability to work under pressure in order to facilitate the smooth running of the Central Venous Access Service in IR and across the Trust. Provide face to face support to families & staff as well as liaison over the phone & email. Provide a service with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve any CVAD problems. Excellent communication skills are needed as you will be required to liaise with various internal and external individuals. This role also requires good IT skills using the Trusts databases and systems.
As a Nurse Specialist, you are expected to manage your own patient caseload with support from the senior CVAT nursing team and be involved with research and audit. Career enhancement is supported with attendance at relevant conferences and available training courses and professional development is encouraged.
The role involves a weekday service, with no out of hour's service. Currently the working hours are 08:00-18:00 weekdays with a four day work pattern to meet the needs of the service.
