Cardiac Physiologist - Arrhythmia specialist

An opportunity has arisen to join our friendly team as a Chief Cardiac Physiologist/Scientist in the arrhythmia team. Your should be able to work independently in complex devices and the cardiac catheter lab. The expertise of this driven individual will contribute to the successful development of the arrhythmia service.

We have a position to cover a period of maternity leave for someone with extensive knowledge of arrhythmia management. The individual should have an interest and enthusiasm for transferring their skills to the paediatric setting. They will work alongside other specialists to provide a comprehensive and high-quality service in complex devices and the cardiac catheter lab. A contribution to other areas within the service will be required when the need dictates: including exercise testing and other ambulatory investigations.

The post holder should be someone who is willing to challenge themselves tackling complex cardiac abnormalities and inherited cardiac conditions.

Main duties of the job

  • Highly specialist knowledge in cardiac physiology, with experience or interest in paediatric cardiology, congenital heart disease, cardiac devices, and/or electrophysiology.

  • To be independent in performing all types of cardiac device follow-up including pacemakers, ICDs, CRT and implantable loop recorders. This includes problem solving, troubleshooting, reprogramming, and knowing when to raise issues with medical team
  • Be part of the remote monitoring service including ensuring all patients are adequately followed up and contacting disconnected monitors
  • Participate in the cardiac device implantation service which includes loop recorders, pacemakers, ICDs and CRTs. Independent practise in both endocardial and epicardial implants is required as well as training junior member of staff in implants
  • To take responsibility for monitoring own performance and professional development to ensure the delivery of a high quality, efficient, and effective service in line with current trends and research
  • To develop and train other members of staff, including physiologists, doctors, and nurses on clinical aspects of the role - this includes devices, cath lab and ambulatory services
