Job summary
This is an excellent opportunity for a doctor with an interest in undergraduate teaching to join Great Ormond Street Hospital as a Clinical Teaching Fellow. The main purpose of this role is to support this programme, as well as our existing undergraduate programmes, by directly supporting undergraduate education. The post holder will also have the opportunity to work across a specific speciality in supporting core skills teaching to postgraduate trainees in skills development and will work with the simulation centre in improving the delivery of simulation.
This role would be for a Speciality Trainee (CT1-ST8+ or equivalent) to develop their skills in medical education while being able to continue limited clinical activity in the area of their choice. The post holder would work within the Postgraduate Medical Education Department four days a week and up to one day in their chosen clinical area. This post is offered as a one-year full-time Fellowship to work with the Undergraduate Education Lead and Director of Medical Education to develop and coordinate the undergraduate education and training across the organisation.
Main duties of the job
o To support undergraduate teaching at GOSH, ensuring that the student timetable runs smoothly and that students have a good educational experience at the trust, both by delivering teaching and by facilitating teaching by others The post-holder will:o Contribute to the development of the undergraduate timetableo Ensure good relationships are developed and maintained with departments delivering undergraduate teachingo Ensure effective mechanisms for student feedback, collate feedback and help respond to resultso Coordinate and encourage student projects within the trusto Promote the engagement of trust staff with UCL Medical Schoolo Support education at the trust, with particular reference to the provision of task training within the clinical environment in a way which is effective and accessible.o Support the research output of the GLA by contributing to research, presentations and peer reviewed publications.
