Job summary

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and committed Health Care Assistant with excellent communication skills to provide compassionate care to patients with a variety of needs within our BMT setting.

The successful candidate will be organized, confident, caring and able to work effectively with our clinical teams. You will have abundant learning opportunities to develop special knowledge and skills and under take further training. The Trust supports personal and professional development.

Main duties of the job

  • To work collaboratively as part of the healthcare team, helping registered nurses and other healthcare practitioners in the work associated with providing care to meet the health and well-being of the child/young people and their families:
  • Carry out clinical procedures/tasks as required and under indirect supervision, e.g.
  • Assist registered nurses with delegated clinical tasks
  • Undertake and record a range of physiological measurements (following training and having been assessed as competent, e.g. height, weight, temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, blood glucose monitoring etc), using the appropriate equipment
  • Other clinical tasks will be determined by the nature of your work and local policy eg: venepuncture and cannulation, monitoring the effects of medication; caringfor stomas; taking ECGs; caring for individuals with catheters or nasogastrictubes
