Job summary

This is a key role within a busy NHS in-house Legal Team that deals with some of the most complex and high-profile legal work in the NHS.

Main duties of the job

Reporting to the Trust Solicitor, the post holder will have sole internal conduct of all clinical negligence claims and personal injury claims against the Trust (including public liability and employer's liability claims). The post holder will have the ability to recognise when to escalate a situation for internal advice and external legal advice and will work closely with NHS Resolution.

The post holder will support the Trust Solicitor, Trust Barrister and Deputy Trust Solicitors to ensure that all policies, procedures and activities in relation to claims and potential claims comply with the Civil Procedure Rules, incorporating the Pre-Action Protocol, and that guidance and instructions on claims handling issued by NHS Resolution are regularly reviewed and procedures updated.
